One person has been arrested for the gang-rape of a woman under the Buhana police station in Jhunjhunu district on Monday.
Police said they have arrested one Vikram, while search for the other accused Anil is on. The medical examination of the woman has been conducted.
According to the police, the victim was sleeping, when the two youths–Anil, and his accomplice Vikram– entered the house of Jaibhagwan on Saturday night. “The duo took his wife to a deserted place where they repeatedly raped her,” the cops said.
In the wee hours of Sunday, they dropped her near Mapura village in a “semi-conscious” state and fled from the scene, the police said. The villagers launched a search in the locality but could not trace her.
The victim could not do anything as she is dumb and deaf, the cops said. The family later found her in a semi-conscious condition on Sunday morning.
An FIR has been lodged. The accused had also made an unsuccessful attempt to kidnap another woman in a nearby village, police said.
The duo first made an attempt to abduct a woman in Bhuriwas village, but fled after she raised an alarm and her husband Surjeet and other members woke up.
Later, they targeted another house, the cops said. An FIR was earlier lodged by Surjeet in this connection.
