CNN names Hearing Aids in Top 25 Inventions of the Last 25 Years

CNN names Hearing Aids in Top 25 Inventions of the Last 25 Years. CNN included the internet, the cell phone, and personal computers in the top 25. Hearing Aids were #24 on the list, saddled between voice mail and short range, high-frequency radio.

Neil Strauss, audiologist and Hear Path founder (www.hearpath.com), agrees that hearing aids should be on the list. "It used to be that hearing aids 'could' cause greater misunderstanding because of the internal distortion. Digital changed all that."

CNN also mentioned the introduction of cochlear implants. Cochlear Implants replace the damaged imner ear and send electrical signals to the brain, where the sounds can be 'heard'. Although not mentioned in the piece, Rush Limbaugh wears a cochlear implant which allowed him to hear again after his sudder loss of hearing in 2001.
