Ringing in your years?
If you have a ringing in your ears that won't quit, you have a condition known as tinnitus.
There is no cure for this condition that afflicts 50 million people in this country, but the American Tinnitus Association provides a list of local health-care providers who understand the condition and can help sufferers find ways to manage it. Call 800-634-8978or visit www.ata.org
In the meantime, the association suggests there often are ways to reduce your risk of developing this condition if you are around loud noise:
- Turn down the volume
- Use earplugs
- Walk away from loud noise you can't control.
From Post-Gazette. Gov. Rendell has joined with the association in proclaiming this week Tinnitus Awareness Week.
