Bowling 'em over!
The First GCC Bowling Championship for the Hearing Impaired is being organised by Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation (BDSF) and co-ordinated by Phoenix Creations. The event, which continues until July 8, is the 29th sporting event being conducted by the GCC Organising Committee (GCCOC) for the Sports of the Disabled.
Bapco and Al Areen Desert Spa and Resort are the Diamond and Platinum sponsors respectively.
Teams from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Oman and Qatar along with Bahrain will be taking part in the prestigious tournament.
There are three categories, Individual, Doubles and Teams. The games will start at 10am, with the official ceremony at 5pm. It is being held under the patronage of BDSF and GCCOC president Major General Shaikh Daij bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
Bapco president Dr Mustafa Al Sayed handed over the sponsorship cheque of BD2,500 to BDSF managing director Essam Kamal.
The function was attended by Bapco public relations manager Mohammed Shehab and Phoenix Creations chief marketing co-ordinator Cherian Mathews.
In another function held at the premises of Al Areen, board member Salah Rahimi handed over the cheque for BD1,200 to Mr Kamal.
National Bank of Bahrain, Caltex Bahrain, Batelco, Akhbar Al Khaleej, Gulf Daily News, Ramee International Hotel, Al Hilal Group, Garmco, ITE Group and Fun Land are other sponsors.
