Kids' ear candles are a real talking point

An alternative therapies clinic has expanded its programme after so many parents wanted their children to benefit.

Daniella Dines of The Lifeforce Reiki and Holistic Therapy Clinic on Station Road in Digswell found that one of their treatments, the Hopi ear candle, was proving effective for a young client from Potters Heath.

The treatment can be used to help with hearing problems such as tinnitus or a build up of wax, and Daniella said children with breathing problems such as hay fever had also found it beneficial.

"I had such a response from people bringing their children in I decided to do them their own price list.

"Treatments are not as long or as in-depth."

Seven-year-old George Comer has been going along to Daniella after his mum Jayne heard about the clinic through a friend.

Jayne said her son had been suffering with hearing problems since he was a baby.

"We have been back and forwards to specialists and never pinned down what the problem was," she said.

"It did take a few visits before anything was really noticeable.

"His attention is now better in school because he can hear what is going on. He was complaining 'my ears are blocked up, I can't hear'.

"He also has a head massage after the treatment.

"The evening and the day after he has had his treatment he is quite calm. It has really helped him.

"His ears are 100 times better."

Daniella said that since business opened in November, she had found that her customers have been coming to her from all areas including Welwyn Hatfield, St Albans, Edgeware, Cheshunt and London.
