Advice for iPod users: watch the volume
While the money iPod users spend on accessories appears to be significant, users face another, potentially greater cost: hearing loss.
Research shows that playing personal stereo systems at unhealthy volumes for prolonged periods can cause hearing impairment.
Ironically, while people may be hurting their hearing using the systems highlighted in The Post's story, providers of the music are accessorizing to protect themselves. More and more musicians wear screening devices in their ears when they perform to keep the music around them at safe levels.
