Deaf man hit by train
A train struck and killed a deaf man Wednesday, but police said they were not sure whether his hearing loss was a factor in the accident.
Witnesses say Curtis D.Anderson, 24, of Muncie, walked in front of the moving freight train Wednesday afternoon after the train's operator blew the whistle.
Muncie police Sgt. Brad Arey says after the whistle blew, Anderson stepped onto the tracks.
The train was going about 15 miles per hour.
Delaware County Coroner James Clevenger says Anderson's death appeared to be an accident and there was no indication the man had intentionally stepped into the train's path.
