Red Cross unveils disaster preparedness plan for deaf
The Rochester chapter of the American Red Cross unveiled a new preparedness plan Thursday to help the deaf community cope during a disaster.
The Red Cross has produced a special brochure outlining some of the things the hearing impaired should do when disaster strikes. “I always like to say that disaster preparedness is not so much providing answers, it's getting people to ask the right questions of themselves, and so hopefully this brochure will enable people in the deaf community to start being more prepared for disaster and start asking the right questions of how they can be more informed and be more prepared when disaster happens to them,” said Leighton Jones, Red Cross Disaster Services Director.
