Sarah needs sponsors to compete in Deaf Olympics
A young Ashington football star is hoping to compete in next year's Deaf Olympics.
But without vital sponsorship she might not make the games.
Sarah Page, of Houndslow Drive, has just returned from the Women's Deaf World Cup held in Greece, where she helped England finish third in the competition.
Now the 17-year-old, who is profoundly deaf, is preparing to represent Great Britain at the Deaf Olympic Games, which will be held in Taipei next year.
But she needs to raise £3,000 to meet the costs.
Her dad, Dave Page, said: "The World Cup was an unbelievable experience.
"They were playing in the national stadium in Athens.
"Not many get the opportunity to see their daughter represent England. There were tears of joy."
Sarah has been playing football since she was four and Dave said that the youngster always showed a natural flair for the sport and was first selected to play for England when she was only 16.
Team GB will need to raise £150,000 for the Deaf Olympics, which works out at around £3,000 per player.
"They go all over the place," Dave said.
"When she plays for England the FA pay for the expenses, but when you play for Great Britain it comes out of your own pocket so they need sponsorship."
