Deaf man deemed OK for trial in child porn case
A deaf man once suspected of viewing child pornography on a public access computer at the Lindsay library is competent to stand trial.
Danny Lynn Crisler, 39, faces one criminal count linked to alleged child pornography, He was in court in Friday in Porterville, where a judge was scheduled to rule on whether or not he could stand trial.
Judge Elisabeth Krant, based on a psychological evaluation of Crisler, found the defendant is competent to stand trial.
Crisler was originally suspected of viewing pornographic material in February 2008 while using a Lindsay library computer.
Those charges were later dropped, reportedly for lack of evidence.
Crisler was arrested March 4, 2008 on suspicion of possessing child pornography after a search warrant executed at his home allegedly turned up a what’s been described as a “small amount of child pornography” in his room.
